Description
The egg fruit plant, scientifically known as Pouteria campechiana, is an evergreen tree native to Central America and Mexico, also known as Canistel or Yellow Sapote. It’s prized for its fruit, which is oval-shaped and resembles a large egg or small pumpkin. The fruit has a smooth, yellowish skin and a firm, custard-like flesh with a sweet flavor, often compared to a hard-boiled egg yolk.
