Description
Abiyu (Pouteria caimito) is a tropical fruit tree native to the Amazonian region of South America, also found in other parts of the world. The fruit is known for its creamy, jelly-like texture and a taste similar to caramel custard. Abiu trees are understory trees, growing to a height of about 12-15 feet and a width of 15-20 feet. They are also known for their multiple flowering periods and potential for having both flowers and fruit on the tree at the same time.
